CBC TO BROADCAST MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE FROM 2019 STARS ON ICE TOUR

Broadcast to Feature Canadian Figure Skating Icon Kurt Browning’s Return to Stars on Ice

The 2019 Stars on Ice tour delivered an unprecedented level of artistry, excitement and athletic triumph to fans throughout Canada. But perhaps the most embraced aspect of last year’s tour was the return of one of the greatest Canadian figure skaters of all-time to the show. Four-time World Champion and four-time Canadian Champion Kurt Browning skated in Stars on Ice for the first time since the 2017 show in Vancouver. “I thought I was ready to say goodbye to touring,” Browning stated. “But when the invite came, I realized how much I missed and wanted to skate with the Stars on Ice tour again.”

The passion and excitement of Browning’s return fueled the 2019 Stars on Ice tour, and was captured in a memorable performance at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, ON and turned into a one-hour special television broadcast that will air nationally on CBC on Monday, December 16th from 9-10 PM local time (9:30-10:30 PM NT).

The annual Stars on Ice TV special, nominated for a Canadian Screen Award in 2014, always showcases the best of Canadian figure skating.  This year’s program is a perfect example. Joining Browning was a stellar cast that included: Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist, three-time World Champion and ten-time National Champion Patrick Chan; Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist, 2018 World Champion and three-time National Champion Kaetlyn Osmond; three-time World Medalists, three-time and reigning National Dance Champions and 2018 Olympians Kaitlyn Weaver & Andrew Poje; Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists, two-time World Champions and seven-time National Pair Champions MeaganDuhamel & Eric Radford; two-time Olympic Silver Medalist, three-time World Champion and seven-time National Champion Elvis Stojko; two-time Olympic Silver Medalist and two-time World Champion Evgenia Medvedeva; and seven-time National Medalists Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier.

The TV special will also serve as a preview for the 2020 Stars on Ice tour which will visit 14 cities in North America beginning in Halifax, NS on Friday, April 24th, and wrapping up in San Jose, CA on Sunday, May 17th.
