NEXT MONTH’S STARS ON ICE TOUR NOW A CROSS-COUNTRY
CELEBRATION FOR ‘GOLDEN BOY’ JEFF BUTTLE
…Canada’s World Championships Hero Visits 12 Cities with Stars on Ice

What was originally going to be a routine fourth tour for Jeff Buttle with Stars on Ice presented by Smucker’s next month, has now become reason for a cross-country celebration after his gold medal performance earlier this month at the Figure Skating World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden that has Canadian fans bursting with pride.

“It was obviously a very exciting week, and the timing for the Stars on Ice tour is perfect as I can now share it with Canadian fans from coast to coast,” said Buttle. “I’ve always looked forward to participating in Stars on Ice with many former World Champions that I’ve looked up to for years.  I’m going to be in shock when I step on the ice for the first time and they introduce me as a World Champion. It’s going to feel great.”

Joining Buttle on the tour will be fellow Canadian cast member Joannie Rochette, who finished in fifth place in the women’s event, her best World Championships finish and matched her effort at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.

It was also announced today that Jessica Dubé & Bryce Davison, who won the bronze medal in the pairs competition at the 2008 World Championships, will be making special guest appearances in the Edmonton and Calgary Stars on Ice shows.

Buttle and Rochette join a star-studded cast that includes favourites Kurt Browning, Jamie Salé & David Pelletier, Sasha Cohen, Marie-France Dubreuil & Patrice Lauzon and Xue Shen & Hongbo Zhao, in an all-new production called “Live and in Colour” that allows fans to experience the energy, spontaneity, and audience interaction that can only come from being part of a live show.

Tickets for the 2008 Stars on Ice presented by Smucker’s tour are on sale now.  The tour kicks off in Halifax on Thursday, April 17, 2008 and visits twelve cities across Canada before wrapping up in Vancouver on May 7.

Enhanced by a broad spectrum of popular music, intricate lighting, dynamic costumes, cutting-edge choreography and state-of-the-art technology, audiences will be front and centre as champion skaters interact and perform as only the best in the world can. Each show will be a unique spectacular as fans witness the excitement of their favourite skaters jumping, spinning and flying past their seats.  If you have enjoyed skating on television but have never seen it in person, Stars on Ice presented by Smucker’s: Live and in Colour will provide a most unforgettable experience only derived from the true thrill of Olympic and world-class skating.

Stars on Ice presented by Smucker’s is an IMG Production.  Executive Producer is Byron Allen.  Emmy Award nominee Scott Hamilton serves as Producer.  Three-time Emmy Award winner Jef Billings returns as Director and Costume Designer.  Cindy Stuart is Choreographer, and Errol Reinart is Lighting Designer.
