A Great Way to Celebrate our Canadian Athletes

As is now tradition, Stars on Ice stopped by Place Bell for one night to showcase its favourite Canadian athletes. Fresh from the 2026 Winter Olympics, both as (television) viewers and as skaters who graced the ice in Milan, spectators had the opportunity to celebrate the country's biggest figure skating stars as part of this highly anticipated tour, which brings together many of the best local talents.

Headlining the event are Olympic bronze medalists Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier , accompanied by Canadian champions Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps , Olympian Madeline Schizas , Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud , alongside skating legend Elvis Stojko , Olympic champion Kaetlyn Osmond , and crowd favourites Keegan Messing and Roman Sadovsky , not to mention Olympian dancers Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha.

A feel-good show

Lasting approximately two hours, with an intermission for the Zamboni and an opportunity for spectators to support World Vision Canada, the tour's charity, the show proved entertaining and incredibly inspiring. The skaters were delighted to share the ice with each other and the audience, a rare chance to set aside the pressure of competition.

A unifying soundtrack

One of the show's most striking aspects is its music. The creators behind the production have made judicious choices, navigating effortlessly between well-known classics and more recent hits. This mix helps make the whole experience enjoyable and inclusive, appealing to all generations!

Group numbers, duets, and solo performances flow seamlessly together, delighting an already captivated crowd. It must be said that the audience includes many enthusiasts, often even skaters themselves, who fully understand the demands and rigor required by a discipline like figure skating.

Among the pieces that got the crowd going or moved them, there was Frank Sinatra 's Fly Me to the Moon , presented by Roman Sadovsky, a group performance of Golden, the song of the moment from the film Demon HuntersWhere Is My Husband? sung by RAYE, offered by Madeline Schizas, as well as When a Man Loves a Woman, a particularly touching duet by Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps.

A legend among us

Year after year, Elvis Stojko impresses, and this time again, he earned a long ovation. It just goes to show that age has nothing to do with what one can achieve on the ice.
